Four years ago I purchased my first Eee PC, an Eee PC 1000HD. This model Eee PC had a battery life rating of just 3 hours in Windows XP and it would only last 1 hour on battery using my distribution of choice at the time, Ubuntu.

At that time, there were a few utilities out there that aimed to improve battery life but none that worked the way I expected, so I set out to build a set of utilities that would provide exceptional battery life on my mediocre Eee PC. Soon after I released this new tool suite as Eee PC ACPI Utilities, and uploaded the source code to SourceForge.
