So we've all probably blindly followed the directions of one tutorial or another at some point in time. Whether it was for some programming technique or to get a mail server up and running. Have you ever stopped to think about how damaging the tutorial could be if it contained wrong information?

We love GNOME. Sometime around 2.6 it started becoming really, really damned good, and a lot faster and more responsive. All kinds of nice things like Network Manager, the Nautilus CD burner and the SFTP support popped up. It helps that most major Linux apps like like Firefox, Evolution, GAIM, and OpenOffice use the same toolkit and themes too.

The perfect answer to their rant is Linux Mint Debian Edition. It doesn't get much better than LMDE, at the moment.

My son who is a Linux user and advocate and I had this conversation about five years ago. I think that it was even before Microsoft and Novell struck a deal. It was pre-Vista because we thought that Microsoft’s next OS could be Linux-based. We thought that it would happen, but are still waiting.
