Today (November 27, 2012) is the 15th birthday of KDE e.V. (eingetragener Verein; registered association), the legal entity which represents the KDE Community in legal and financial matters. We interviewed two of the founding members (Matthias and Matthias) on the why, what and when of KDE e.V. in the beginning. Tomorrow, emeritus board member Mirko Böhm shares his thoughts.

We published interviews with two of the founding members (Matthias Ettrich and Kalle Dalheimer) on the why, what and when of KDE e.V. in the beginning.

The KDE Project is taking a smart approach to reworking the KDE Website. Lydia Pintscher put out the call Sunday for contributors to pitch in with content and screenshots for one or more KDE programs by January 23rd.

The official KDE Project currently consists of 4.2 million lines of code. Cornelius Schumacher has applied the lines to individual projects and published the stats.

Today, the last piece of the puzzle for roaming laptops in Debian Edu finally entered the Debian archive. Today, the new libpam-mklocaluser package was accepted. Two days ago, two other pieces was accepted into unstable. This collection of packages allow for two different setups for roaming laptops.

Today the Amarok project releases Narwhal, the release candidate of the upcoming Amarok 2.0.

The changes since Beta 3 focus mostly on fixing bugs, as we are in a fairly hard feature-freeze to give us time to polish the final product. However, this didn’t stop us from adding a few nice new things.

And remember, the new Amarok 2.0 RC 1 works on Windows and MacOS too.

KDE announced today that the one millionth commit has been made to its Subversion-based revision control system. Schumacher attributes this growth to the strength of both KDE's products and vision.

The GNOME Foundation Board regretfully announces that Jeff Waugh will be stepping down from the board in order to focus on work and other projects. The board thanks Jeff for his years of service to the board and the community, and wishes him success in his future work both inside and outside of GNOME. Jeff leaves big shoes to fill.
