We had Microsoft releasing some 20,000 LOC of Linux drivers so that Linux can run faster on their Hyper-V solution. A lot of MS PR saying how they love interoperability and how cool they are. I will be the first to say that I was in shock (and I bet I wasn't the only one). After all, we are talking about a license that their managers explicitly hate so why release code under that license then?

X Window, X11 or "X," as it is known for short, provides the programming framework and the underlying runtime system for most Unix and Linux-based network-transparent windowing implementations. It runs on a huge number of Linux and Unix flavors, including Mac OS X and with a bit of help, on several Windows varieties.

Brace yourself, Sun fans. In Exhibit 60, SCO's Response to Novell's Inc.'s Interrogatory 15, dated April 6, 2007, paragraph 4, we learn that Microsoft and Sun paid for licenses that included a covenant not to sue, UnixWare rights, and incidental rights to the older UNIX System V source code.
