But it can seem a little daunting to find the material that you both want and can legally use. Here's a little bit of my strategy, a few tips, and some sources, including Jamendo, which I found to be the most useful for finding music.

Google restricts the download of entire PicasaWeb albums to users of its proprietary (and Windows only) software Picasa. A fairly simple Bash script can do that and even more.
Although Picasa is now available on GNU/Linux, it is still proprietary and, as such, unethical. One year ago, I wrote a simple Bash script that handles a very rapid download of entire PicasaWeb albums/galleries. During the last weeks, Google changed twice the format of the related Web pages and my script could not fetch any picture.
Canonical, the company behind the Ubuntu Linux distribution, has announced the official launch of the Ubuntu One music store. Integrated into the Rhythmbox music player in the upcoming Ubuntu 10.04 release, the store allows users to purchase downloadable songs and albums.
