For some reason, people still can't seem to get their heads around the idea that you can make money, big money, from FOSS (Free Software/Open Source). It's a pity that more of them couldn't have been in New York City this week for the O'Reilly Money:Tech conference.

Open source and business
The idea that open source and capitalism are somehow incompatible I think arises from Microsoft FUD campaigns of yesteryear. Open source can help companies get a product to market quicker at lower development cost, and also the quality of open source code tends to be higher simply because it has to be in order to be maintainable by many people.
