Since Apple introduced the Intel chip in their Macintosh computers, people have been using this technology to run other software that they would normally run on their PCs, such as Windows or various blends of *nix. Because of their specialized hardware, Macs present somewhat of a challenge to get a PC operating system that would run without a hitch on a normal PC computer, running on an Intel Mac. This guide aims to highlight, avoid and deal with main complications that arise when running (or trying to run) Linux on a Macintosh.

In the first part of this series of articles I stated some things about designers and their apple computers, I said that these machines are overpriced and overhyped. This made some people think this articles were about Linux vs Apple. I got a lot of comments from people who seem to like apple:-) and a lot of arguments, some probably valuable.

This article is about new aspects of the never-ending story of how Apple is protecting MacOS X for running on different hardware than Apple's. The keyword is virtualization, which allows running unmodified version of Mac OS X as virtualized instance.

Psystar seems to just keep bothering Apple, most recently promising to continue fighting the lawsuit and introuducing Blu-Ray drives into their open Macs. However this turns out, it will be a very interesting fight.

In my palatial estate in scenic Waltham, Massachusetts, aka my apartment, I have several computers. My two favorite computers to use are my Lenovo X60 (running SLED 10 SP1) and my Apple Macbook Pro running OS X (10.4.10). I also have a whitebox machine from Intel that I use as my server running SLES 10 SP1.

With Apples market share growth increasing you really dont see a lot of companies moving from Windows-based computers to Macs. Sure, you will find mixed environments, with Macs predominantly in the creative departments. But, you dont typically see a complete departure from Windows. Well, Google is making the move from Windows based computers to Macs and Linux based computers.
