Two things I do every morning no matter what are drink my morning coffee and read the latest Linux news. A day without either of them would be a disaster. Because getting Linux news is so important to me I’ve kept track of several Linux news sites and tested the value and focus of their articles.
A news aggregator eliminates the need for surfing the Web as much. Instead of going to all the Web pages you have bookmarked to read your favorite blogs, news, or media presentations, you can simply add an RSS/RDF or Atom syndication format to Liferea and have all the news feeds at your command.
o3 magazine, the enterprise Open Source magazine, today announced a beta of its news portal, o3news. The portal is designed to track all Open Source enterprise-related news. The service guarantees 24/7 coverage across timezones thanks to a globally distributed staff that monitors over 25 news sources to keep you updated with enterprise news as it breaks.

Sourcefabric today announced the launch of Newscoop 4, an open source content management system for news, at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia. Developed and used by news organisations like Switzerland’s TagesWoche, ElPeriódico de Guatemala and Yemen Times, Newscoop 4 aims to help independent news organisations manage online publications, enrich content and find new audiences.
The Linux community spoke and foxnews.com listened. I received a polite message late today from Mr. Dave Denis the Director, Product Development at Fox News. Mr. Denis stated that Fox News is now aware of the problem with their Video page and is working with Maven Networks to get it fixed. Mr. Denis also stated that most of the Fox News developers use Ubuntu.
SpringSource announced news earlier today that it has acquired Hyperic. This is good news for SpringSource, but not everyone out there believes that it's good news for open source.
