So here we go again, another distro has made it to the front of the queue and this time it's the relatively new release Sabayon 1.1 Professional. I tried out version 3.2 of the main distro a while back but it was only on a virtual machine and I wanted to give it a proper test drive.

The guys over at Linux Outlaws are always talking about Tiny Core Linux because it always seems to be releasing a new version. I was impressed back in the day that Damn Small Linux could have a working Linux distro in only 50 MB. I know that Tiny Core Linux is technically not a full Linux distro, but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Today’s candidate is the latest release of a distro I first looked at some time ago, Sabayon. I’ve had mixed feelings about it in the past. I wanted to see how it had developed now they’d reached version 4.0, so here goes nothing…

At work I'm tied to a windows machine, however I have been able to use GNU/Linux which is where I'm most productive. First, I tried working with Portable Ubuntu. It works pretty well, however the latency can be a little high sometimes (Firefox being the most obvious case that I noticed).

I have always wanted to take CrunchBang for a spin. This elegant distribution is based on the minimal version of Ubuntu, in this case, Jaunty Jackalope. CrunchBang wants to provide an alternative look and way of working with Ubuntu.
